For over a decade, curious minds from the Sri Kumaran schools have found room to stretch beyond the syllabus — in masterclasses with scientists and historians, live online courses, the residential Gifted Summer Program, and year-round mentoring in Gifted Lab. This page is their story.
It's very easy for him to get bored. He will try it out for a couple of days, and then he'll say, no, I am not interested. So we would have to rather force him. GenWise he does on his own — he's quite engaged.
I was looking for a similar thing. Not for a coaching, not increasing your marks from 90 to 100%. That was never a goal. The goal was to make sure that the child understands and enjoys the real deep understanding.
I arrived nervous; I'm leaving independent. Three weeks of choosing my own adventures with caring staff and like-minded peers. Homesick turned into home, strangers into friends. GenWise is where you grow confidently, joyfully.

Gifted Lab and the Gifted Summer Program are built on doing: constructing ideas from scratch, running experiments, reading real research. Here is what that has looked like for Kumarans students.
Instead of being handed Pick's theorem, Aditya's cohort constructed it themselves — starting from their own axioms and deriving a formula for the greatest and least area a shape could enclose.
We didn't just learn what that mathematician achieved. We constructed that idea from our own axioms… That makes me believe what I have learned. And I won't forget it that easily, because I myself came to that conclusion with my own thinking.
One special assignment: hold a rubber band to your lip, stretch it fast, and feel the temperature jump — entropy and elasticity, discovered at home. Another week, the assignment was to read an actual scientific paper.
There was also an assignment where you were supposed to read a paper. I feel like a scientist at that point.
Shortest-path problems that seemed to have no way in — until they cracked. Advaiy now takes both Math and Science year-round, and carried that confidence into the Harvard Science Olympiad.
It was so fascinating, because I thought there was no way you could figure it out… I didn't find anything difficult — it's just that I didn't know it yet.
The shift families notice most is in how their children think, not what they can recite.
In school, they write points on the board and ask to copy notes. Here, they ask: why does this happen? If I make this change, how will it change the outcome?
Constructing 90° angles wasn't a recipe to follow — it was a puzzle to reverse-engineer.
The mentality goes from 'I have to follow great people' to 'I have to question great people, try, find alternatives, find a more efficient way.'

From Kumarans to a Bachelor's in Computer Science at BITS Pilani and a Master's at Cornell Tech. Krishna now develops quantitative solutions for ESG analysis at Bloomberg.
Pursued law after school, completing an LLM at University College London and training at The Hague Academy of International Law. Medha now works on fair competition and consumer protection in the UK.
Studied at UCLA before moving to doctoral research at Princeton University, working in theoretical and experimental physics at one of the world's leading departments.
